Week 4, Syllabus

Mr. Ditzenberger, 9th Grade Bible
Time: 3 Periods Unit 6-Wilderness Week: 4 Dates: February 4th -February 8th
1. Students will memorize the 10 commandments.
2. Students will reflect on the first two commandments by explaining their significance and application.
3. Students will differentiate between good and bad jealousy.
4. Students will explore and analyze different meanings and applications of the 2nd commandment.

Monday
Discuss 3rd Q project.
List 10 Commandments on board.
1.Write out the 10 Commandments on a piece of computer paper.
2. Decorate the computer paper.
3. Choose one of the commandments to focus on.
4. Quiz tomorrow on commandments and their chapter-Exodus 20.

Tuesday
1. Commandments quiz.
2. Yahweh Only. Free write on this command. Reflect on why it’s important, consequences for obeying or disobeying, and practical tips for keeping it. This should be kept as a journal and collected when all 10 are completed.
3. The command can be stated positively (see notes).
4. Jealousy-good and bad.
5. Skit-showing good jealousy and bad jealously.
6. Other gods-Lk 16:13 (money); Physical appetites (Phil 3:19); Greed (Col 3:5)
7. Write out 1 John 5:21. 1 Cor. *:4-6; 1 Thess 1:9-10; 1 Tim 2:5

Wednesday
1. Yahweh truly. Command 2. Free right on same ideas as yesterday.
2. Read Ex 20:4-6 and discuss (see notes).
3. Controversy surrounding the command.
4. ESV and NASB translations.
5. Possible interpretations
6. Homework-write a paragraph on this question-Is it OK for Christians to make pictures or images of Jesus?
