Week 8, Syllabus

Mr. Ditzenberger, 9th Grade Bible
Time: 5 Periods Unit 7-10 Commandments Week: 8 Dates: March 3rd-7th

1. Students will compare the challenges of keeping the commandment regarding adultery from the perspectives of both genders.
2. Students will reflect on the meaning of stealing in our society.
3. Students will list characterizes of using your tongue wisely based on verses in Proverbs.
4. Students will analyze how covetousness can be applied in a variety of situations.
5. Students will listen to a sermon on love and discuss the main points.

Monday
1. Meaning, Consequences, and Tips-Adultery.
2. Temptations for guys vs. girls
3. Matt 5:27-32, discussion
4. Dt 22:22-marriage violations. Death for adultery. John 8:1-11.
5. Characteristics of your spouse-what is most important?
7. 2 Samuel 11-David and Bathsheba.
8. Homework-Bring a news article to class that talks about stealing.

Tuesday
1. Has anything ever been stolen from you? Share stories in small groups.
2. Have you ever stolen anything (chewing gum from 7-eleven).
3. Pirated DVDs? Burning copies of television programs? Music?
4. Eph 4:28 and Ex 22:5-15.
5. Slavery=stealing a persons (Ex 21:16).
6. Includes plagiarism, larceny, pilfering.
7. Jesus and thieves-tax collectors, man on cross, Zaccheus, Judas.
8. Respect human life, the institution of marriage, and other people’s stuff.

Wednesday
1. Second commandment that focuses on what we say. What’s the first?
2. Restate the command positively.
3. Why do we break it? Eph 4:25; Col 3:9-10; Prov 12:22.
4. Find 10 references in Proverbs to the tongue and write them out.
5. Make a skit showing how this happens on an everyday basis in school, on msn, sms, and telephone.
6. Perform skits.

Thursday
